ART codeaccess' JAMES SCOTT has  developed a “niche” over the years of teaching full day courses that allow a subject matter to be explored in great detail. He attempts to take a very dry subject matter and make it more interesting by talking about the theory behind the regulatory requirements. Class-wide discussion is always an important part of his seminars. Though he more often teaches full day seminars, he is able to provide shorter seminars upon request, or combine shorter seminars together to create a full day course if so desired. SEMINAR SUBJECTS - ACCESSIBILITY

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) - The subject matter covered concerns the regulations and Standards for Accessible Design for the ADA which covers private entities and state and local government entities 

Architectural Barriers Act (ABA) - The subject matter covered concerns the regulations and Standards for Accessible Design for the ABA which covers federal government entities. Usually, this subject matter is coupled with coverage of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. 

Fair Housing Amendments Act (FHAA) - The subject matter covered concerns the regulations and Guidelines for accessible design for the FHAA which covers multifamily housing funded by private and all government entities. 

Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act (504) - The subject matter covered concerns the regulations and Standards for Accessible Design for 504 which covers federal government entities. Usually, this subject matter is coupled with coverage of the Architectural Barriers Act. 

ICC A117.1 Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities (often referred to as ANSI A117.1) and the International Building Code (IBC) – Chapter 11 Accessibility - The subject matter covered concerns the regulations and Standards for Accessible Design for any of the state and local building codes based on the IBC. 

Various State Accessibility Codes (Florida, New Jersey, etc.) - The subject matter covered concerns the regulations and Standards for Accessible Design for the State and local codes which may be different from national standards. 

General Accessibility - Courses can be designed with any combination of the accessibility regulations and standards listed above.
 

SEMINAR SUBJECTS – FIRE SAFETY

Fire safety seminars are available for the International Building Code (IBC), the International Existing Building Code (IEBC), and the NFPA 101 - Life Safety Code and are based on the following subjects or combinations of subjects below.
